After the introduction of the casestudy, a week full of guest lectures on the theme of multidisciplinarity was given. From sculpting to mixed media.
Perspectives
Enstrangment is a process of losing context and meaning. No longer able to influence the situation. Familiar concepts suddenly or slowly get further from us. This process can apply in banal or just very profound matters.
This column is enstranged from its original concept and the rest of the building. In addition, the finishing material also gives an enstranged impression of realistic weathering. While this building is eroding and collapsing, this column just sprung out smooth, shiny and reflective. As a revolution against its decline.
Under the concept of multidisciplinarity we mean the use of knowledge and skills from other disciplines/activities in our own discipline. The broadening and connection are necessary elements for innovation in the future, that depth and analysis in the own discipline is the start of the thinking or design process and that the output has characteristics of interdisciplinarity.
This allows us to use ideas, material applications, research and working methods and thought patterns that are specific to a (design) discipline usefully in our own design practice. We call this a cross-over of creative processes with designs at the interface between disciplines.

20 tot 26 November
As a group, we searched for our own goal by means of lectures. We wanted to frame this around a central concept. Enstragment, spatial or formal became our keyword & verb.
Manifest
27 November tot 3 December
The search for enstragment of spatiality through shapes and colors. We use this to create enstragment of light and space. This research was the first step to apply the concept to a spatial element.
Lightlab
4 tot 10 December
After a search for a suitable subject for our keyword, we encountered the temple building of the Academy. From this flowed the first ideas.
Contextuality
11 tot 17 December
After processing our research into a detailed idea, we looked for finishing materials that resulted in the final design.

Each part flows together. Materials, design visions and construction come together as a whole..
